Ezekiel 14:13-14
This passage gives both a positive and a negative perspective
on the judgment of God. The negative view shows the sureness and
thoroughness of God's judgment. God will not forever forebear the
transgressions of men. There is a day of judgment set and on that
day, justice will be swift and sure. God has delayed so that man
has an opportunity to repent but, if man uses this as a license to continue
in his sin, his destruction is secured.
The positive view is that, even in the midst of an evil
and perverse world, a faithful Christian can preserve his righteousness.
God offers Noah, Daniel, and Job as examples of this kind of faithful perseverance.
May we always strive to not be influenced by what is going on around us
but to stand firm for the Word of God!
